The new year is only a day away, and with a new year comes new goals, new ambitions, and new mindsets.
Well, at least that's what we tell ourselves. We tell ourselves to be go getters, to be fierce, to create opportunities, to be unstoppable.
And then, we stop.
We lose site of these goals we were once so excited about, and then by the time December rolls back around, we realize, nothing has changed.
We get overwhelmed, too busy, make excuses, or we are just flat out lazy, and the 'you' you hoped you'd see yourself transform into, remains a fluttering thought that you daydream about. A 'you' you believe is now unattainable. Maybe you will "start again next year" because now its "too late".
I am here to say it doesn't have to be that way. You can become the person you want to be.
But, that doesn't happen by wishful thinking.
I am going to share with you my secret to success. The secret (ok not that much of a secret lol) of how I begin each year, and how over the years, I continue to achieve the goals I set for myself.
I trust, seek, and pursue a relationship with Jesus. I lean on His word for guidance, and I make time for Him each day with prayer and devotionals. He is number one.
I Then Ask Myself These Questions and Write Down the Answers
What Things Did I Accomplish This Past Year?
How Did I Accomplish These Things?
What worked? What Didn't work? What Do I Want To Do Differently?
What Are My Goals For This New Year?
What Do I Want to Focus My Energy On?
If I Were to Pick a Word as The Theme for This Next Year, What Would it Be?
What Fun Things Do I Want to Do This Year?
What Do I Want to Accomplish Personally?
What Do I Want to Accomplish in My Business?
I then break down these goals into how I can accomplish them. If you don't know where to start, reach out to someone who has already done what you are seeking to do. Find some resources through the people you know, and if you don't know anyone, join some facebook groups! I have found that facebook is a great tool for connecting with people (shocking I know).
I create deadlines for myself. For example, I am going to accomplish _______ by ________. This can be done by weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly plans that all work towards the main goals you've set for yourself.
And Step 5
Talk to your friends about your goals, find an accountability partner who will ask how you're doing, or go back to step 3, join some sort of online group going through the same thing as you. Community is huge! Having people who support you can make all the difference in staying motivated.
With that, I hope 2020 brings you everything you want and more!
To celebrate the roaring 20's here are 20 of my favorite images from 2019!
